Battery from Trash: An Invention by Kelvin Doe
Kelvin Doe is a young inventor from Sierra Leone. In his town, the lights only turn on one day
each week. Kelvin wanted to make a battery to turn on the lights in people’s homes. He saw that
many people had no power at night and he wanted to help them.
When Kelvin was 11 years old, he started picking up broken electronics from the trash. He took
them home and tried to make new things. He failed many times, but he did not stop. He believed he
could make lights from trash. He learned how things work by opening them.
Kelvin made a battery using trash. Things like soda, acid, and metal were used for his invention.
Now, he uses his battery to turn on lights in homes. He helps other people by sharing his ideas. His battery gives light and hope to many people.
