Vincent Bal makes art out of the shadows. We talked with this artist about shadow art.
Interviewer: How did you start with shadow art?
VB: Like a lot of good things in life, it started with an accident. On a spring morning, I was working on a film script. Suddenly, the shadow of my teacup became an elephant. I drew some eyes on the shadow animal, gave it legs, and took a picture.
Interviewer: How did you like it?
VB: I shared the image on social media and everybody said it was funny. So I made hundreds of these shadow images from five years ago.
Interviewer: Many young people expressⓐby art. What advice will you give to those young people?
VB: Enjoy yourself. Try out different things, fail, then try again. Do not take it all too seriously. There are many number of ideas in your head, so keep going.
Interviewer: What else would you like to share with future artists?
VB: Success should not be a goal. Just focus on the workⓑand enjoy the making. That is success.
