The Birth of Coffee
Ethiopia’s Gift to the World
The coffee plant’s origin is Ethiopia, where legend has it that a goat farmer named Kaldi discovered coffee’s potential.
He noticed that his goats became energetic after eating certain berries, so he reported his findings to a local monastery’s abbot.
The abbot made a drink from the berries and found it kept him alert during evening prayer.
