Showing competitive spirit and a love for reading from an early age, Gates developed a keen interest in computers during high school.
While studying at Harvard University with the intention of pursuing a law career, Gates had a change of heart and dropped out in 1975 to start a business with his friend, Paul Allen.
Operating out of a small garage in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gates and Allen founded a company initially named “Micro-Soft.”
Utilizing their programming skills, they developed their first operating system.
Working with a company that manufactured personal computers, they started to create basic programming software.
In 1976, the name “Microsoft” was registered as a trade name, and the company continued to develop programming language software, eventually relocating to larger offices in Seattle.

In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started assembling their first computer, the Apple I, in Jobs’ parents’ garage.

Today, Amazon is the go-to online marketplace for a wide range of products.
It’s astonishing to think that such a global company had its beginnings in a garage.
