I’m going to explain the rules of ice hockey to you.
Let’s imagine soccer, but on ice with sticks. There are
two teams with six players each, and they try to shoot
a puck into the other team’s net while defending their
own. You score by getting the puck in the net. But
watch out for ‘offsides’—you can’t go into the other
team’s zone before the puck does. Penalties are
timeouts for foul play.

I’m going to explain the rules of curling to you. Let’s imagine
bowling, but on ice with stones and brooms. There are two teams
with four players each, and they take turns sliding stones toward a
target called the “house.” After both teams have delivered their
stones, the team with the stone closest to the center scores
points. A game usually has ten ends, and each team delivers eight
stones in each end. The team with the most points at the end
wins.
