Two very gifted painters lived in Florence, Italy during the Renaissance’s peak.
They were Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti.
These painters were famous in Europe for their art, but they were also known for their big rivalry.

Lorenzo’s Grand Competition
Lorenzo de’ Medici was the governor of Florence and had a big idea.
He wanted to have a special art competition at the center of the city.
He invited Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti to join.

To paint a painting on opposite walls in the same room at the Palazzo Vecchio.
