I returned to the United States with a resolution to help others suffering from unsafe
drinking water.

In 2003, I founded Water for South Sudan (WFSS), a non-profit
organization that provides access to clean and safe water in areas of urgent need.

Since the installation of the first well in my father’s village in 2005, WFSS
has drilled 628 wells, providing clean water and benefiting over 500,000
people as of 2023.

My dream was to return home, and I believe that every
person currently living in a refugee camp shares that dream
— to go back home and build a better life.

I am proof that
it is possible to overcome adversity and make a positive
impact on the lives of others.
